At the USC Latino Alumni Association Scholarship Gala, alumni, students, and university leadership gathered to celebrate five decades of impact — and the responsibility of continuing to expand opportunity for future generations.

A sense of pride and optimism filled the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday March 7, 2026 as more than 500 alumni, students, university leaders, and supporters gathered for the annual scholarship gala hosted by the USC Latino Alumni Association. Newly appointed executive director, Ray López-Chang took to the stage and reflected on the legacy of USC LAA. “This organization was assembled by alumni who refused to accept ‘no,’” he said. Those early leaders believed Latino students deserved not only access to higher education, but the mentorship, professional networks, and community support necessary to succeed once they arrived.
Joining the celebration was newly elected USC president, Beong Soo-Kim who shared his support for extending access and opportunity to our community’s most promising students.
