Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 2025
Last Updated: August 2026

At California Leaders, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your information when you visit our website at www.CaliforniaLeaders.com (the "Site").

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect the following types of information:
a. Personal Information
When you register for events, subscribe to our newsletter, participate in workshops, request access to a digital edition of our magazine, or contact us, we may collect personal information such as:
- Full name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company or organization
- Title or role
- Payment information (for event or course registration)
- Social media handles (if provided)
Certain of our programs and publications are underwritten by sponsors. Where an event, workshop, or digital edition is sponsored, the information you provide may be collected both for California Leaders and for that sponsor, as described in Section 3a.
b. Non-Personal Information
We may also collect anonymous information through cookies and similar technologies:
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- IP address
- Pages visited and time spent on the site
- Referring websites

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer service
- Register you for programs, workshops, or events
- Provide access to digital editions of our magazine
- Send newsletters, updates, and promotional materials
- Improve our website and offerings
- Monitor website usage and trends
- Process payments and transactions securely
- Comply with legal obligations

3. SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
We do not rent your personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own marketing purposes except as described in Section 3a below. We may otherwise share your data only in these limited situations:
- With service providers who support our operations (e.g., payment processors, email platforms)
- With your consent (e.g., publishing your testimonial or story)
- If required by law or to protect our rights, users, or partners

3a. Sponsored Programs, Events, and Digital Access

Many California Leaders programs are made possible by sponsors. This includes events, workshops, and digital editions of our magazine that are offered at no cost or at reduced cost because a sponsor has underwritten them.
When you register for a sponsored event or workshop, or submit an access form for a sponsored digital edition, the sponsor or sponsors of that program will be identified on the registration or access page. If you consent, we may provide those sponsors with the information you submitted — your name, title, organization, email address, and phone number.
We never share your payment information, financial account details, or any information you provide in a private or confidential capacity with sponsors.

Sponsors may contact you about their products and services, including by email, telephone, and text message. A sponsor's use of your information is governed by that sponsor's own privacy policy, not ours. We require sponsors to use this information only for the purpose stated at the time of collection, to honor opt-out requests, and not to sell or transfer it onward.
Your consent is optional and separate. You may register for our events and workshops, and you may subscribe to California Leaders at our standard rates, without consenting to have your information shared with any sponsor. Declining will not affect your registration, your access, or the service you receive.

For in-person events, sponsors may also collect your information directly at their booths or tables, for example by scanning a badge or asking you to complete a form. Information you provide to a sponsor directly in that manner is governed by that sponsor's privacy policy, not this one.

4. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
You have the right to:

- Access, update, or delete your personal information
- Opt out of receiving marketing emails by clicking "unsubscribe" in any message
- Request that we stop sharing your information with program and event sponsors going forward
- Disable cookies through your browser settings

5. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties to whom it is disclosed
- Right to delete the personal information we hold about you, subject to legal exceptions
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you services or provide a different level of service because you exercised these rights
Providing your information to a sponsor as described in Section 3a may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under California law. You may opt out at any time by emailing privacy@californialeaders.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information." Opting out will not affect your registration for any event you have joined or your access to any edition you have already unlocked.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@californialeaders.com. We will verify your request using the email address associated with your submission and will respond within 45 days.

6. DATA RETENTION
We retain the personal information you provide for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and no longer than three years from your last interaction with us unless a longer period is required by law. Information provided to a sponsor is retained by that sponsor according to its own policies.

7. DATA SECURITY
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. THIRD-PARTY LINKS
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these sites. Please review their privacy policies before providing personal information.

9. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Our site and services are not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted here, and the updated version will be effective as of the date listed at the top of this page.
