An Entrepreneur Finds Energy for Her Business Through Tragedy

Starting a business is difficult for anyone. It’s even harder for a female entrepreneur. Starting over after a sudden and devastating loss is almost impossible.
In January 2025, the destructive Eaton Fire swept through Altadena, California. For many like Elizabeth Hall and her family, it was catastrophic. Not only did it claim her home, but also the entire inventory of her young wellness company, Eeze Natural Health, which had been stored in her garage. Like many residents who lost property, she learned that the insurance policy she had was insufficient to cover her business losses.The destruction of her home-based business represented a total financial loss.
The foundation of Hall's company was initially forged in personal adversity. She battled decades of severe, misdiagnosed gut issues. As a flight attendant, she began to experience extreme discomfort that comes with lengthy flights, long hours, poor sleep and airport food and eventually was forced to step away from her airline career. Frustrated by harsh, ineffective products on the market, she began experimenting with vitamins and herbs. This led her to launch her initial product, Travel-eeze, designed to provide travelers with gentle, reliable digestive relief. Once her product was fully developed, it found great success as nearly 40% of the population struggles with moderate to severe gut health issues.
Elizabeth was an emerging entrepreneur just beginning to feel that she had the business savvy and fortitude to be successful. Then she saw the flames reach her back yard. She and Brian packed a few items along with Charlie, their poodle-Chihuahua-terrier mix puppy. In spite of their neighbors' assurance that their home would be safe, they left to stay with friends for the night and never saw their home again.
